The water level measurement is performed using a 2Mhz ultrasound transducer on the top surface of the sensor. It needs a minimal water level of 20mm above the transducer (70mm total) to measure the level accurately.
Measurement requirements
In order to measure the water level accurately, take into account the following guidelines:

The water level is measured straight upwards. An installation of the Nerite not perfectly level will not measure the water level as accurate. Always check with a level after installation.

Waves, foam or flotation devices on top of the water will disturb the ultrasound reflection and might mimic the reflection of ultrasound at the water surface. Always install the sensor in well-developed flow to ensure accurate level measurements.
